FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


1) What are the Human Resource Department responsibilities?

Human Resources are responsible for employee relations, in addition to our consumer’s well-being. HR handles nearly all employee related issues and is responsible for recruiting, hiring, terminations, investigations, benefits, and much more.

2) What is the company dress code?
Opportunity Manor Inc. has a lax dress code. Employees providing direct care services at our sites are not expected to dress business oriented; rather, casual clothes are acceptable so long as they are appropriate in terms of exposure of the body.

3) How do I apply?
To apply, please come to our main office and complete an application for employment. Also, you can submit an application using our website under ‘Employment’ at the bottom of the page.

4) What are the minimum requirements for employment?
Opportunity Manor Inc. requires all part-time direct care employees to be at least 18 years or older, have a high school diploma or GED and be able to speak and read English. The company strongly encourages applicants to have a valid driver’s license with a driving record with limited citations and violations. Also, applicants should have a clean background.

5) How long is training and is it fully paid?
All new employees will go through a standard training program which is two weeks long. Everything needed to work in our site(s) will be attained through this training.  Once at a site, direct care employees receive an additional 16 hours of training to orientate themselves with the site.   All trainings are paid for in full.

6) What kinds of positions are typically available and hours?
The most common position open are for part-time direct care employees. Every part-time position includes shifts on every other weekend. In general, part-time hours during the weekdays will be evening hours. 

7) What is a typical day for a direct care staff?
Staff begin their shift by reading staff notes regarding the current status of the site, consumers, and activities. Afterwards, staff has a general outline for each site, day, and shift. Additionally, nearly all consumers have a general routine that they follow; whether that is going to work, school, activities, shopping, or outings.

8) Who would make a good direct care staff?
Someone with passion for helping others, creative, honest, punctual, accountable, friendly, and responsible.

9) What can employees expect for their services?
Beyond receiving an obvious paycheck, our employees learn valuable assets, skills, and knowledge to carry with them through life. Employees also remark on the sense of fulfillment through their services. Through availing themselves, our employees work closely with our consumers to bridge the gap of inequality and to take one step closer to having a truly selfless community.
